Hi – updates to Search & Filter Pro are not working on this site https://insurtechgateway.com, with the error Update Failed: Download failed. Unauthorized

I have checked the license details and they are correct, also Windows servers are not being used. It’s a client site, so manual updating is not really going to work for them. Do you have any further suggestions?

    Thanks

The issue may have arisen because we have changed domains.

Assuming that you had correctly activated the license on that domain, and the update failed as you say, do you have a Windows based server? If you DO have a Windows server (unlikely, as most use Apache), you will need this plugin installed to overcome a bug with that server software:

Otherwise, if your current version is 2.3.2 or later, then the advice in this thread should work for you:

Or, if your current version is 2.3.1 or earlier see this post:

    Hi Trevor

I have had a look through this thread and unfortunately it doesn’t help. As I said, the site doesn’t use a Windows server and updating manually will not be appropriate for a site managed by a client, not myself.
Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thanks
    Sim

Hi Trevor – they are on version 2.4.2

Then they need to update manually:

Download the latest version from Your Account. Then,

    1. In the plugin settings you must have the Remove all data when deleting Search & Filter set to OFF, see in this screenshot:

    2. In WP Admin -> Plugins deactivate Search & Filter Pro, then delete it. If the plugin will not deactivate and/or delete, you may have to use ftp to delete the search-filter-pro in from the plugins folder.
    3. Then in WP Admin, Add new plugin, upload v2.4.4 and install/activate.

None of your data/forms should be lost. But, to be safe, PLEASE MAKE A DATABASE BACKUP FIRST.

This is old, but I’m not having this problem trying to upgrade from Version 2.4.6 to something more recent. I’ve also changed accounts and license keys.

I don’t see a “Settings” option on the plugin. Is there another way I can preserve the plugin settings?

Please make a full site backup before updating.

You can download the new version (2.5.8) from Your Account. Then, go to Plugins -> Add New, choose the upload option, and WordPress will then give you the option to use that file to update the plugin, even though the old version is still installed (as long as you are using WordPress 5.5 or higher).

Using this method there is no need to remove the old plugin and your settings will be preserved.

This support forum is no longer in use, so if you need further support, you will find a Support Tab now in Your Account, or you can send an email to support@searchandfilter.com, which will open a ticket for you automatically (please use the email account that is associated with the account so that it gets linked correctly).
