Yea I thought it would be something along those lines — the taxonomy for the Projects necessarily couldn’t include the one for Posts and visa/versa.

So to make sure I’ve got this right — with Advanced Custom Fields I could set up a custom field called, say, “Related” that would show up ALL post types (both Posts and Projects)? And in the Custom Field I could put text strings like “Federal” or “Foo” or “Bar”, and then clear the taxonomy filters and instead use the Post Meta tab to filter for the “Related” Custom Field (which would show up in that drop down once I’d created it), which would pull across post types?

Sounds about right. In ACF, you set up a field group, and set rules as to which post type the fields in that that field group are used with.

Ok still not working not sure what I’m doing wrong. Have ACF installed and created a “Related Resources” field to display on Posts and Projects.

In one Post and one Project I have put the text “Federal” in that custom field.
    (Post: https://denverstreetspartnership.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=6450&action=edit)
    (Project: https://denverstreetspartnership.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=6325&action=edit)

For the filter I turned off the taxonomy includes and used the _related_resources field in the Meta tab, with the “like” selector.

    Filter: https://denverstreetspartnership.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=6639&action=edit

On the test page where I have this filter embedded still not getting results.

    Test filter page:

    Thank you!

Yes, I thought it might be something like that, but I don’t see any option for the meta field without the underscore. I do have at least one Post and at least one Project with data in the new “related_resources” meta field, but I only see “_related_resources” as an option in that dropdown, not “related_resources”.

This project has “Federal” in the “Related Resources” meta field:

This post has “Federal” in the “Related Resources meta field:
    https://denverstreetspartnership.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=6325&action=edit

Only seeing list of options with underscores in the meta fields dropdown:

Sorry, yes “related_page”, not “related_resources” — the problem remains, I don’t see it without the underscore, only with!

Ok could have saved us both quite some time, because I thought to look for the not-underscored version several exchanges ago but could not find it. I swear. But had this happen on another issue a while ago and only solved through desperation, and had similar lightbulb moment just now, so sharing with you just in case this comes up again for someone else:

No idea why, but for whatever reason every once in a blue moon Firefox gets buggy about showing all items at the end of a dropdown. I switched to Chrome just now and it is there, as it has no doubt been all along.

I promise it is NOT there when I look in Firefox, which is what I’ve been using this whole time.

Selected it and test page now appears to be showing correct set of items, thank you for your patience. I believe we can close this ticket.

Thanks for getting back to me. I will close this thread for now.
