We only have about 3,500 posts

I will need to make some changes to get a proper dev environment for you to look at.

Oddly, I have the site operational now (running slowly, but stable).
I have just one post type archive form operational -the issue seems to get critical when I activate a search form pointing to a search results page. Maybe my templates could be an issue – any howlers to check for in this regard?

Hi Jason, I’ve split these two threads – just to help with communicating private info (private replies can only be seen by the author and moderators) and also because the two issues are starting to look a little different

Have you tried enabling WP_DEBUG?

The second thing we can try is looking through error logs.

So if you can, enable WP_DEBUG, and WP_DEBUG_LOG:

And share the error logs with me (usually created in wp-content/debug.log)

Also, contact your host, and ask for the hosting level error logs to see if we can match this up.

You mentioned before you saw an error:

Error Code: 499
