I’m thinking about something !

I do also have a great and quite “advanced” php custom template for results.

With custom layouts, which is nice we can buit it from the ui, cool, but it’s far from being as flexible as a php template, obviously, and far from being flexible enough for my taste yet, but if we could create php templates for “cards” and that those templates would be loaded in the selector when we built a layout, then we could get the best of both worlds

That functionality (using the Shortcode method with a results template) has not been removed, If you edited the template file inside our plugin folder, that would have been the issue. Please see the correct method here:

Hello,

I understand the idea behind the plugin and the new approach but the fact that the old way does not work anymore is not really helpful.

I had a nice custom php template for my search and filter ( that got deleted after each update hence the fact that I did not update for so long ).

But now it does not work at all. As I’m only using a single search filter on my website I simply edited the results.php in the template folder, but the old way of creating a custom php file was really nice and easy, I don’t understand why this functionnality was removed.

Hi Ross – i want to show only post type “Resources” and uploaded media, but within media I only want to show pdfs.

I get in results all post type “Resources” AND all Media incl. images: https://www.cobenefits.info/resources-results/

Thanks so much for this brilliant hack. Unfortunately, in our case there will likely be many many posts in each of the 2 categories requiring a pager and if items are simply hidden/displayed with HTML it would lead to unpredictable results (page showing 0 or 1 results with a pager for the next “10 results” below). I think I will need to roll up my sleeves and figure out the wp_query approach but thank you for offering a solution, I hope it can help someone else on the same quest.

Following up the ideas, what would be really really awesome is to have a slider/caroussel layout style…

a simple implementation would be to display one card at a time and slide between them automatically, there would be basic navigation button/info

more options could be to
select how many card we want to display at once,
have some custom css for the “main” card when more than one are displayed (for instance 3 cards but the one on the middle size is 120% of the others=
select if it side card one by one or 3 by 3 when having 3 cards at a time
having a button to “show more” which would be like navigating betwen page results…

V3 free version (the core plugin also required for V3 Pro addon) is now in internal testing and we are working hard to finish V3 Pro addon (when that enters internal testing, we will beta test V3 free)>

If I filter by attribute (in this case, color or size) I get no results.

We are testing the free core plugin now and finishing off the pro addon plugin. The other major component (which required a lot of coding) we finished a little while ago. It was to bring the capability to control the results layout, content and appearance, something we have left to themes and page builder plugins until now.

It was also intended to make it built in to the search plugin itself, but we instead decided to release it as a free standalone plugin:

So, three plugins in all. One is released, one is in internal testing (soon to go to beta) and the third we are finishing off. Right now we are hoping within a few months.
