    Hey Neal all sorted!

I fixed the problem in your copy of Search & Filter however the latest official update (1.1.4) will overwrite that and will break again.

In your plugins folder there is another copy of Search & Filter, however, this is version 1.1.4 with the patch applied, so (because I couldn’t due to permissions) – delete the search-filter-pro folder from your plugins directory, and rename search-filter-pro-n to search-filter-pro and you should be good to go 🙂

    Hey Neal

No problem about the testing, you’re right its late, I’ll pick up in the morning (my time) 🙂

RE the other problem, this was reported 2 days ago by another user which I’ve just fixed and patched… lookout for version 1.1.4 in your dashboard with this fix and some enhancements (make sure your license is activated in order to receive updates).

    Speak soon 😀

    Hey Neal

It seems that when there is a query on the meta data that the nav dissapears, but category search etc seem to work find! Right now I have no idea why… I’ll need FTP access to edit the plugin files to test… :/

Hmmmm it definitely does not do anything to do with showing or hiding anything on the page… I looked at the source too and and the HTML is not even being output…

So the only thing I can think is, how is the navigation being generated? Maybe there is a conflict somewhere…

Can you send me your login details so I can take a look?

    Thanks

    Hey Neal

It sounds like your sidebar is being loaded in conditionally?

Do you have a sidebar manager or a plugin which will specify which pages will show the sidebar (ie nav)?

    Thanks

    Hey Neal

I think this is happening because the plugin is loading a template you do not intend for it to use..

Make sure you have the tick box in your settings that says “use custom template” ticked, and the filename search.php

If the results still don’t look as you want, try changing the template name to archive.php or index.php and see if those templates are more suitable?

Search results do not go to a specific page, but you can set the slug in the settings panel, such as search-results and then the search results will be at their own specific URL like:

    yoursite.com/search-results

    🙂

Let me know if the above works for you!

    Hey Nicole

Unfortunately you can’t do this just yet with the plugin, I am planning on adding more input options, this being one already considered.

With that said, I’ll make sure I push this to my immediate to do list and will begin working on it in the next week.

    🙂

    Hey Ronald

I made some modifications as an example…

Now you should go to – http://novoline-merkur.com/search-results/ in search & Filter settings, this is defined by “slug”…

So, the page that has that the widget embedded, must also use the the same template as the results for AJAX to work properly…

So, I’ll try to explain a little more :/

The page with the search widget in the sidebar is:

    http://novoline-merkur.com/search-and-filter/

This page is using the page.php template.

Your search results template must be the same (i.e, page.php) for ajax to work from that page (this is because the layout must be the same, so jQuery can match up the content properly)….

In S&F settings, I changed the custom template to “page.php” so that they match. And guess what? Now Ajax works…. 🙂

Now the problem is you probably do not want to use page.php to display your results… but they must match… So either:

    1) Change the template of your page “search-and-filter” to one you would also like to use to display your results, then in S&F settings, change the template filename to match this… (like I just did with page.php)

    or

    2) Do not use the page “search-and-filter”, but instead always link directly to your search results page – http://novoline-merkur.com/search-results/ – then change the template here to one that you would like 🙂

Please go ahead and check out – http://novoline-merkur.com/search-results/ – and use the form in the widget area – it works with Ajax 🙂
