Hi, I purchased this plugin today. I am looking to accomplish something similar to what is mentioned in the thread titled, “Using search & filter pro for multiple filtered gallery.” But most of that thread is private.
Specifically, I would like to use this plugin to search and create an image gallery… similar to: http://www.weathertex.com.au/gallery/… which appears to be using this S&F plugin for its search.
Are there other plugins or methods that could work together with this S&F plugin? Anything you can recommend? I am currently using this theme: https://themeforest.net/item/vigor-a-fresh-multiconcept-theme/10811763
Thank you very much in advance.
Best,

However, I think a simpler method is possible, depending on what you want displayed in the grid, which is to use Visual Composer and our free VC addon, downloadable from here:

This will add a Visual Composer display results method to the form design. So make a form and make sure it is saved with a unique name. In VC, you will see a new element (blue) to add the search form to the page. Select the form in the settings fro that.
Then add a VC Post Grid element to the page. Here is a screenshot with the standard grids shown:
In the VC post grid the Data Source needs to be set to Search & Filter, and then for you to select the form.
You may need to design your own post layout, using the VC grid builder.
Anonymous(Private) July 19, 2017 at 6:32 pm #121602Hi Trevor,
Thank you for your help. However, I don’t believe I can use the VC method, because Edge Themes alters the VC elements, and those “Post Grid” elements are not available in this theme.
I looked at the forum page you linked to, but most of it is Private, so I cannot read it. I see at the end of the thread there are three plugins that they used, but I still cannot figure out how to display images as search results rather than a list of links.
When the results display on my screen, the “image” results are just a list of links, that lead to pages with the image on the new page… not really what I’m going for.
Does that make sense? Can you help me get it so that images from the media folder appear rather than a series of links?
Thank you!
Trevor(Private) July 19, 2017 at 6:47 pm #121613Hi
Some themes hide the grid elements, but have a setting so you an reveal them, some make their own grid element.
It looks like I need to have a look in your admin to see how the theme is configured. Before we do that, can you make a page where you want the search results, make a form that uses the shortcode method, place the form and results shortcodes on the page.
The form should search Media. But, you know that media do not have categories and tags by default. This plugin is the best way to add those, and it works VERY well with Search and Filter:

If you want to add other data to the images, then using custom fields made by this plugin:
Trevor(Private) July 20, 2017 at 12:43 pm #121740Hi Nick
You can use Category only once in the form. You would need to make additional taxonomies. This post tries to explain this a bit better (you can use a plugin to switch category terms from media-category to any new taxonomy that you make, so it is not so hard to do). It is a really awful preachy lecture I wrote:

Sorry about the tone, but the message is right and it links to good plugins (except taxonomy switcher I think). If I missed anything (I probably did, my apologies), follow up and nudge me.
