    Hi Ross,

Just researching and I noticed Gregor’s post above. I’m finding the same thing on my custom post types that share taxonomies. If CPT1 has an empty category field but CPT2 has them populated, it will not hide on CPT1’s filter. It sounds like there’s a way to get this to work but maybe I’m not seeing it. Could you fill me in?

    Many thanks,

    Erin

    Hey Erin

Finding it slightly hard to follow – can you provide a link so I can see what you are saying?

    Thanks

Sorry about that. Yes, here’s the site and I’ll give you a real example:

    These are my three filters:
    http://education-first.com/blog/
    http://education-first.com/library/
    http://education-first.com/who-we-are/in-the-news/

So, I have three Post Types that share taxonomies.

    Post Types: Blog, Publications, News
    Taxonomies: Topics, Services, Focus Areas

On each of these, under Topics, I have set them to “Hide if Empty.”

If you go to the Blog (http://education-first.com/blog/) and search under Topics and select “Assessment.” You get no results. There are no posts filed under “Assessment” but there are News and Publications that are filed under “Assessment.” So I think it’s displaying as “not empty” but it is in fact empty for the Blog Post Type. I’d like this to be hidden. Is there a way to do that within the plugin settings?

Let me know if you have questions? Appreciate any insight.

    Best,

    Erin

    Hey Erin

Do you have Auto Count enabled? If not, can you enable it?

    Thanks

    I’ve just enabled it.

Cam you provide login details so I can take a look?

If you have auto count enabled & hide empty, your topics field should be showing up as an empty dropdown on your blog.

There is no way to hide the field completely without some custom JS code (I can point you in the right direction) but it definitely doesn’t seem to be showing up correctly.

    Thanks

THANK YOU! I realized that I enabled “Display Count” rather than “Enable Auto Count.” Now it makes total sense! This plugin has everything, thank you, Ross!
