So How Do I Filter?

So here is a funny question! I thought the form would filter? When I use a check box list, I expected it to take one category, then if I checked a second, it would filter down posts that would match both categories and eliminate posts that were not in both, but all it does is add the two categories together (which I’m sure makes total sense to you 🙂 but I thought this was a filter, as in to filter out and refine?

So can I actually filter using categories, or is it going to be you have to filter between two things, like take a filter and cross it with a taxonomy or something? Oy, if that is so, this is much less of a filter, and I don’t see any documentation that says “Hey, do you want to refine a search, do this!”, it’s more of an ajax post loader? But I hope I’m totally wrong there and just missed something! 🙂

The documentation needs demos with code! Not to get off topic, but for instance, in the section that says you can set up your own custom query, it should have a full basic query WITH customizations added instead of just the snippet you add to the query.
