Having thumbnails for search results on my site rarely load an my host says its from S&F pro:

“I do see in the site’s error logs that the search-filter-pro plugin is making some very long queries, some of which do get stopped by our systems for being too large. You can see those in the error logs in the User Portal: ”

Who is your host? If it is WP Engine, see this post:

It is WPE but they said they can only enable that temporarily as I am on a shared server. Permanent long process killing isn’t supported for the plan I’m on and I can’t afford to upgrade. I have about 2500 pages on the site.

You should have access to the wp-config.php file yourself, I would have thought? I have not come across a WP Engine customer who could not edit it. If you have ftp access, and a code editor, it would take a few moments to do.

They are the only host company does this (limit query length as a proxy to kill long processes, where, in fact, our query makes the process far faster).

Your only other alternative is to use a different host, as there is no other workaround.
