    Hi

    I know that I can create a results PHP template in my theme folder using the ID as the file name. This is great and allows me to control exactly how the results will be displayed.

    Is there a way I can control the look and layout of the Search form template itself?
    I can see the admin there are controls for the Search Form UI (horizontal etc.), but I would like to go further. For example I wish to add tooltips to the search terms.

    There are not, sorry. You would need to use CSS and JavaScript to make any changes.

    I would add, that V3 is in development (some months away te), which WILL allow you to do as you want.
