Hi there, I’m using your plugin for a stock photography site.
    https://stockpassport.com
I have a main search on the home page and then a search and filter widget in the sidebar of the results page.
I would like to be able to search and filter within the results without having to repopulate the search text field.
    The workflow should go like this;
A user searches form he home page, a results page is displayed, the user filters the results with a radio button (for example) the filter is applied to the existing list of results.
Currently I have to be sure to enter the search term again in the search and filter widget before selecting any radio buttons otherwise I’m doing a fresh search.
    Thanks in advance.

In the sidebar form, do you also have the textual search field (as well as maybe the in the header)? You should do this, as then it will be populated as the page opens.

I should add that if you do not want this visible in the sidebar form, you would need to write some Custom CSS t hie that field (using display: none;)

Hi Trevor, Thanks for the response.
I do have the textual search in the sidebar form however it loads unpopulated as does the header form, therefor clicking filter initiates a fresh search each time. Removing the textual search from the sidebar does not change the behavior.
Can you suggest anything else please?

Hi Trevor, is there an easy way to keep the search term in the textual search field until the user clicks reset? That would work right?

Hi Krista. I think I have misunderstood you. On the Home Page main search, is that a Search & Filter Search box or a theme/WordPress one?

If it is a theme/WP search box, it needs to be replaced with a form from Search & Filter. This may require editing a theme file, which I can help you with. It would require that you are using a child theme, so if you are not we will deal with that first.

Hi Trevor, thanks for the response. I’ll need to check my theme first and see where the home page search box is being loaded from. It might be easily replaceable with a S&F shortcode.

If I change it though, what then? Won’t I still have the same issue in native S&P search?

    thanks

No, the native search has the wrong query string, that’s why it doesn’t work with ours.

Hi Trevor, my developer is going to make the change. Do you mind if we keep this chat open until I’m satisfied its working as expected please?
