I have inherited a website that is using Search and Filter Pro to present the contents of a resource library. It worked fine for some period of time. However, at some point last year it quit. At first, I assumed it was because the license had expired. However, I have renewed that and put the key into the app and run several updates. No effect.
I then thought there must be some other issue and have been banging around off and on for a few weeks now without luck.
To try to better understand how the plugin works I have created a new simple search form following the tutorial at https://searchandfilter.com/documentation/getting-started/creating-your-first-search-form/, however, I get absolutely no results from that search (https://cesba.com/testy-search/).
I have returned to the original search (https://cesba.com/resource-library-search/), but can’t get it to show anything sensible. It seemingly returns every post and media item every time with no change based on the search term. Using some of the drop-downs, does limit the list, but the results never respond to the search term.
The problem is likely simple for those in the know with the plugin, but I am tearing my hair out.
One problem that occurs to me is that it might simple be incompatible with one of the (way too many) plugins that the previous developer put on this site.
Any thoughts of how I can troubleshoot this? It’s driving me nuts and the client is getting cranky.

The only thing that I can see is javascript errors in the browser web developer console, which need fixing:

You could initially test by switching the theme to a standard one, like Twenty Sixteen.

Thanks Trevor. I’ll find some time to try that on Monday. I’ll let you know what I discover.
