    Hello,
I’ve just installed the plug in and created my first search. However, it’s not finding any results for any combination of searches. What have I done wrong?
    The form is here: http://www.parentfriendlystays.co.uk/our-philosophy/
    Thanks

Ah. I see the issue. You are using Avada. I am sorry, we do not have a method to integrate with Avada at this time, so this is a problem. For now the only option is our Shortcode method (the results appearance is basic, but, looking at your example page, could well meet your needs with a little customisation of the template).

Also, we have other third party plugin integrations.

We have an alternative (free) integration method, which might work for you. It would require that you build a page just for search results, and place the form on that page.

I don’t know Avada that well, but it might work a little like WPBakery’s Page Builder plugin, where you ‘build’ the content visually. In turn, their page builder places the content inside special shortcodes, which are processed, in their case using JavaScript, to make the content.

However, the WordPress excerpt function discards shortcodes. And thus, for WPBakery Page Builder, any code calling the excerpt returns empty. I suspect the same will be the case for your content.

And, yes, the only way to get around this is to create specially crafted excerpts and place these in the WP editor excerpt field.

It was issues like this that caused the WordPress team to create their own visual editor, in their case using blocks, which we now know as Gutenberg. The WordPress excerpt functions understands these Gutenberg blocks and so can still create an excerpt. For myself, I tend to try to avoid using page builders or themes that do this.

As to the ability to add in what the user searched for, we plan to do something about this in V3 of our plugin (due in a few months). We will try to get the responsive columns feature added as soon as we can.
