Finally, combination will be probably Astra + Elementor(Pro) + JetElements (Tabs, etc). Now is on OceanWP.There is 11 CPTs (per post type filtration), Tags enabled for CPTs (per tags filtration), 3 Custom Taxonomies (hierarchical type) (per taxonomy filtration), Date (data range filtration) and Authors (per author filtration).
As I want to avoid eBay like filtration design, Elementor(Pro) and JetElements(Tabs) are involved.
Testing Custom Display on raw OceanWP (per CPTs filtration), works well. Problem is with Elementor(Pro), as it not support multiple CPTs. Should be involved JetBlog Smart Post Listing or JetEngine Listing Grid, or PostGrid (your tutorial), or something else (Livemesh, …).
To avoid now JetElements, I’ll stick with PostGrid, where I set all 11 CPTs in PG and set it in SF according tutorial and all posts are displayed, but filtration not working. I guess how issue is Elementor. So, what to do?
SECOND QUESTION
I would like if it is possible to separate filters (above noticed) on same page, but no idea how it react on same listing. Reason for separation is functionality of archive page design (to be more like Yelp! or Ikea like and less as eBay like).
1) So, if first (standalone) post types filter is checked (ie News post type), how will act second (standalone) Authors filter?
a) Will display only News of the AuthorOne
b) Will display ALL POSTS of AuthorOne (technically, reset first filter)
c) Something else2) How will react sorting? (answer most likely depends on first answer, but …)
So, count that (ie) it is filtered News of AuthorOne (that is goal of filtration) and now reorder posts as standalone ‘form’ (not within first or second filter). Results will be reset by sorting change or …?
P.S. – Despite to own Crocoblocks license also for JetSearch and JetSmartFilters, I choosed SF vs extended functionalities (sorting, authors, date, CPTs).
Trevor(Private) September 23, 2019 at 11:50 am #221568How complete is the project? Having separate CPTs is OK, but one taxonomy across all CPTs is not so good, as WordPress does not handle well a taxonomy shared by more than one CPT.
So, Tags (as shipped with WordPress) are for Posts, but should not be used for other CPTs. It is possible to do, but not advised. Better to use a custom field (as can be made with Advanced Custom Fields plugin. Filtering is then possible across multiple (Custom) Post Types, as ACF allows field groups to be assigned to more than one Post Type. Sorting then becomes easier too.
Also, when our form is attached to an Elementor Post Grid, Elementor will apply this to the Post Types set in the form, not just ‘Posts’.
I really need to step you through the process as you build it, so start small and build up?
Try as I suggest with Elementor Post Grid, S&F and ACF and make a form and get this working first. Please see this post also:
Trevor(Private) September 23, 2019 at 7:35 pm #221682Some time ago WordPress changed the way taxonomies (which include Tags and categories) are linked to Post Types, making searching across the same taxonomy in multiple different post types problematic. Be aware that this could cause difficulties. It might, for example, not find posts from all Post Types, or might count them wrong.
What would be much better, to enable me to help you as quickly and efficiently as possible, is for you to make a form, for you find one most important thing wrong, and then for me to look at what that is.
