I have several questions but have decided to go back to simple and work up from there. I would very much appreciate any guidance you can offer in the following areas:
1. What is the best practice recommendation for employing the Search & Filter Form sidebar widget on a site that has several different CPT’s in addition to Posts? If I choose a Search Form that was configured for a particular post type it does not work on pages that display other post types, and if I create a Search Form that can search multiple post types the filters don’t reflect the current post type… I don’t mind setting up an appropriate Search Form for each post type but can’t see how to configure a widget that way. Perhaps the general site widgets are simply not a good place for this…
2. Is there a best practice recommendation for replacing the search many themes support in the Nav Search Icon? Instead of relying on the user to perform a basic search first using built-in functionality and then adding Search & Filter to the results page for additional drill-down, I would love to have that expand out to a rich Search & Filter widget when clicked. I guess my fallback is to simply make it a navigation button that would take them to a search page.
3. Do you know if anyone has used this with Toolset and Beaver Builder and CPT’s? If so, any pointers? I would love to fully utilize the Ajax search in all CPT’s and with good looking designs. Better yet if I can use Toolset to restyle the Search & Filter UI to match the rest of the site. My coding skills are pretty rusty. I am coming back up to speed out of necessity but configurable solutions or step by step guides are still super helpful.
Thank you,
Steve -
