first filter of 2 resetting itself

I have a page using search and filter that has 2 filters and a search box. The posts are displayed on the same page using a shortcode.

For some reason the first filter dropdown keeps getting reset when you select an option in the second filter dropdown.

In addition, when an option is selected from that first dropdown, it will flash briefly in the dropdown box and then goes back to all items. The really weird thing about this is it will filter by the first dropdown, the dropdown bod just looks like it isn’t.

This issue seems like it might be similar to https://support.searchandfilter.com/forums/topic/multiselect-combobox-removes-all-options-chosen-when-i-try-to-type-in-a-term/. Although I am using select2, I know that isn’t the issue- I disabled select2’s javascript and css on my local install and these bugs are still occurring. I also tried changing the post type and tag selects to combo boxes and unchecking auto-submit form without success.
