Basically, I think Search & filter is not picking up that the new meta field is a serialised meta field – so when it tries to perform a search, it treats it as a regular field (not serialised) which leads to it breaking.

This is a bug with S&F not doing this detection correctly in some scenarios.

In order to get this to work for you I will need to develop a new option so that it is configurable – but this is not such a quick or easy task.

In addition to the above, there is a chance that the problem could be something else completely – so to figure out if it is or not, can you try to do the following? :

1) Create a blank search form, with only this meta field and a submit button.
2) Follow the quick tutorial steps here – http://www.designsandcode.com/wordpress-plugins/search-filter-pro/docs/display-results/with-a-shortcode/
3) Make sure you follow closely, ie, put both shortcodes in the body of the page- forget about formatting and styling, this is just for testing
4) Test the search form, does it work?
5) If not, I am sending you the file that I sent Jeroen on the other ticket via email, please update S&F using this version and test the new search form again.
6) Please send me a link to the testing page
