Hi, I currently have version 1.4.3. I’ve never been able to update via the WordPress control panel, and I just assume that isn’t possible. I just tried to manually update and I got a notice that it needed to build the cache table. So I clicked to do that and it just hung there. Then I went to the settings in another tab and it just had a 500 error. Can you help? How can I get the updated version most easily?

    Hi Sarah

    I see the issue.

The issue also occurs simply when you disable S&F Pro.

Enabling WP_DEBUG showed an error (which I have again disabled) that a function doesn’t exist – is_valid_form() – this is correct – it used to be part of S&F pre 2.0 but has since been deprecated – please check the upgrade notes:

    Thanks

Okay, thanks for this info. So what do we need to do to get it to actually work? I looked at the article you sent and followed the instructions but still get the 500 error when the newer version of the plugin is activated. Can you help me get the newest version to work?

Somewhere in your theme, (you can find out which file/line by enabling WP_DEBUG) you are using the S&F function is_valid_form – you need to replace this with the function I linked to:

    https://www.designsandcode.com/documentation/search-filter-pro/2-0-upgrade-notes/#is_valid_form_replaced_with_active_sfid

Did you do the development of this site?

    Thanks
