    I sent the following to the developer of Woo Discount Rules:

    I wrote to the developer of the Search and Filter plugin. This is what he said:

    What you want is a plugin that can handle a condition based on other Custom Taxonomies, not just Product Category (which is itself a custom taxonomy, but one made by WooCommerce).

    Either that or you manually add the necessary product category to each item.

    Do you have any suggestions to move this forward? For right now, I’ve reduced the quantity to zero of the product I don’t want to discount further, and I believe everything works as intended except that. I’m not inclined to find another plugin to do this, but I wonder how much difficulty it would be to add the ability to handle conditions based on other custom taxonomies that he’s suggesting as well as how long it might take if you do see wisdom in that idea?

    He’s likely to respond fairly quickly, and I’ll post his response here when he does.

    Hi, Trevor;

    Let’s just hold off to see what he says about developing his plugin to include other custom taxonomies. Here’s the thing; the website is so much better now for having your plugin than it was before it. That single product is an important one, but it’s neither immediately not critically important. Right now, I have the inventories of it and it’s variations all set to zero, so no one will be able to purchase them through the website. That’s a temporary fix, but it can hang like this for some time.

    So far as I know right now, if Ramish isn’t able or interested in taking his plugin to the point that other custom taxonomies like these can be used, I just need for all products to have a category, any category. The “uncategorized” category works fine for me for everything that currently has no category. Using specific categories as I did was only needed to allow the native WooCommerce tools to filter them in the header menu as I had. It was unsatisfactory. None of that’s necessary now with the genesis of the new taxonomies you created.

    Go enjoy your weekend! We’ll talk next week when I hear back from Ramesh.

    Peace,

    Dave

    Not great news, but Ramesh wrote:

    I am so sorry that we do not have support for custom taxonomies.
    Currently we support only categories. Custom taxonomies are bit difficult to handle as they might have been used for different possibilities at “n” number of ways.

    Let’s talk about and then decide how to move forward sometime this week.

    This is the first I’ve been back to my computer. Sure, but today’s gone. Let me know what time you’d like to talk, and I’ll make a point of being close. I have a mic-headset thing now, so that’ll go a little easier.

    Drat, I forgot I can’t reply to the email notifications and only just found the auto-response. Yes, today’s fine. Just let me know the time you’d like to meet, and I’ll send a new TeamViewer login.
