Linking multiple dropdowns (taxonomy switcher / linking taxonomies)(Private) January 29, 2019 at 9:01 am #200406Okay great I’ll stick with the ‘Custom Post Type UI’ plugin…
Apologies for asking so many questions, I think I’m getting close.
I’m not editing that form now, or today, so if you want to go in that would be great. I’m going to try and build a brand new form/page and start from fresh.
The issue I have is understanding how the custom taxonomies link together in the dropdown menu see here https://www.screencast.com/t/uyvtwxs0oY4x … I’m trying to figure out if there is an option using the CPT UI plugin, that allows you to create a hierarchal or child/parent system, or do you think it’s better to do this manually via PHP?
If I’m on the right track could you please recommend the best way to do it?

CPT NOT SHOWING ISSUE
Regarding the other issue “when you click on the sector test option the CPT doesn’t show” https://www.screencast.com/t/WW0riTHvm related to this page http://mediaworldwide.co.uk/perfect-storm/ams-test-site/case-studies/I’ve assigned the CPT to the CT using this option https://www.screencast.com/t/1erfOBWwi6x is this correct?
Thanks for all you help.

Linking multiple dropdowns (taxonomy switcher / linking taxonomies)(Private) January 28, 2019 at 4:20 pm #200200I have added a custom taxonomy ‘sectors_test’ it’s showing in the dropdown menu, but when I select it, it’s not showing the assigned post.
https://www.screencast.com/t/CEoStElNYhsY
I am using the ‘Custom Post Type UI’ plugin to create the custom taxonomy, it might be an issue with that, is there a pluign you recomend, or would you advise to add it manually via PHP?
Thanks

Linking multiple dropdowns (taxonomy switcher / linking taxonomies)(Private) January 28, 2019 at 10:41 am #200089Okay, so this method will get the same results like in your demo… For example you if you select film certificate PG, it changes the ratings?

Search filter form could not be displayed(Private) January 25, 2019 at 5:40 am #199988Sorry my fault, I figured you need to add a blog module then link them up… The posts are now being displayed.
I tried to select either options on the dropdown, but the resuts don’t change,,, for example if you select Case Studies, none of the posts show up (they all have featured images)?

Search filter form could not be displayed(Private) January 25, 2019 at 4:42 am #199986Hi Trevor,
Just to clarify, when you say “blog module for the results”, are you refering to the SF module?
If so I removed the SF module, as advised by Ross, but I’m not sure how the results are displayed, unless the short code I added puts in the results as well, or do I need to add another code module and put a different short code in for the results?
Thanks,

Search filter form could not be displayed(Private) January 24, 2019 at 9:11 am #199878Hi Ross,
Thanks for your help.
It’s strange because the SF module is working fine on my Case Studies page (http://mediaworldwide.co.uk/perfect-storm/ams-test-site/case-studies).
I’ve removed the SF module from the News page and added the shortcode to a code module, it’s now showing the dropdown,, but if I select a category it doens’t display any results, I’m not sure how I get the results to display below?
Thanks,

Search filter form could not be displayed(Private) January 20, 2019 at 10:06 am #199432Hi Trevor,
I am trying to link new taxonomies, so when the first dropdown is selected it presents a list of related/linked taxonomies in the second dropdown, but I’m not sure how to link them up?
I searched the forum for ‘taxonomy switcher’ and found a couple of your posts. I have created a new taxonomy called sector (not using any hierarchies), this new taxonomy is in the first dropdown, but I can’t see how that links to sub categories in the 2nd dropdown (for example a user could select energy sector in the 1st dropdown, which would show a list of different energy taxonomies in the 2nds dropdown)?
Thanks,
Christian -
