    Curiously, your theme is doing this oddly. In desktop the search form is in the left column, but in the source HTML it appears AFTER the right column. The theme uses floats to switch the positions.

    I do not know the theme well enough to know how it decides which column to put where in the source HTML. I am used to using Bootstrap 3 based themes (but your is not). The Bootstrap 3 framework gives you simple (ish) additional classes that allow you to define where columns move to (or disappear) in different screen sizes (push, pull and hidden classes). You would need to refer back to the theme author to see how they handle this.
