I found that the movie demo created more questions than answers.
What was the method used?
– As an archive
– Post type archive
– Using a shortcode
– WooCommerce shop
– EDD downloads page
– CustomThen based on which method was used, how was it setup up on the website so that the search results appeared on the left and the actual search criteria was on the right?
Was it:
– in a widget
– not in a widgetTrevor(Private) December 5, 2017 at 1:01 pm #145727Hi Helen
It is using the WordPress twentyfourteen theme. It uses as an archive and is a widget in the theme’s right sidebar.
This is the most commonly used setup for users.
I have just answered you regarding Divi in your other thread, as that theme is very different from most normal themes.
Most questions around how we set up the demos can’t directly be transferred to a few of the more complex themes (like Divi, Avada, Enfold), instead it is sometimes necessary (for me) to figure out the integration for those themes.
For most themes, this is not an issue and they work pretty much out of the box, as it does for twentyfourteen. Divi is a special case.
Trevor(Private) December 5, 2017 at 4:44 pm #145824Did you try the method I pointed you to in your other thread?

For Divi, it is possible only to use this method or the Shortcode display results method. The way the theme is coded prevents the Post Type Archive and As an Archive method working (but for WooCommerce pages Divi still works fine with our WooCommerce display results method, because Divi does not interfere with WooCommerce too much).
Anonymous(Private) December 5, 2017 at 5:01 pm #145839Yes I looked at the other thread.

I don’t quite understand it. I am not sure if you are saying to do parts of it or all of it. Also, the previous message being private doesn’t really help as it loses context.
It would be great if you could write some dummy proof instructions.
I tried using the shortcode method. Unfortunately, when you open the page where the shortcode was inserted, every single search result appears automatically, despite the fact that no-one has pressed the submit button.
Then when you do an actual search, the search results are all in code, that is until you hit the refresh button after which it all appears normal again, displaying the search results, minus the code.
