    When choosing “Display results method: Using a Shortcode”, custom post type can not be searched in the search box on my site.
    How can I search for custom post type using Using a Shortcode?

    They were on, I have now switched them off. The relevanssi settings (the first 2, are ONLY if you have the free Relevanssi plugin installed and the index built).

    On this page, it is best to have Maintain Search Form State OFF:

    I removed the form from the content as you have it in the sidebar already.

    Something, maybe a plugin, must be interfering with the query, maybe though pre_get_posts()

    are you able to deactivate all plugins except the ones needed (S&F, CPT UI ..)? And test that?

    I tried invalidating except the necessary plug-in, but the result did not change.
    Since it seems that you can search without problems if posted, I would like to give up searching for custom posts. Thank you.

    It should work. I do it fine, so I do not see what the problem can be. With the shortcode method, especially with the standard results.php (not edited), there is very little to go wrong.
