    Thank you for the tip. It well could be the theme. What should I be looking for in the code of the theme to try to disable it?

    I would start by deactivating as many plugins as you can and testing. If that fixes it, slowly activate them one by one, testing as you go. If it is the theme, you need to ask the theme author.

    It just says there doesn’t do any caching… how do I fix this?

    What is the cache setting set to in the plugin main settings page (not the form page)? If this looks OK, chances are it is something in the PHP setup of the page that is not allowing our script to work.

    both sites test and live are on the same server/platform with exactly the same PHP settings so it couldn’t be different.

    I am waiting for the developer to get back to on what to look for. Is the number of posts that it has to cache the same on both sites?

    not the same but a little more on the live site, like 30-40 more posts.

    OK, sounds like you need the developer version of the plugin. Can I send it by email? Reply with a private reply with your email address.

    The install the update that I will email to you, by following:

    1) disable S&F (do not delete via wp-admin)
    2) via FTP upload and replace the existing S&F in – wp-content/plugins/search-filter-pro/
    3) enable S&F via wp-admin

    Just did as you advised. Still same message

    "Notice: Running background processes is either disabled or has failed in this environment.
    Therefore you must leave this page open to complete caching."

    What else can we do?

    But now, in the Search and Filter admin menu, there is now a new sub menu item Status Report?
