Since updating to 2.3.2 earlier today I am unable to get to the main Search & Filter menu in WP Admin. Whenever I click it I am redirected to a blank page that reads “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” It has been a few hours now. All other sub-menu items seem to work (e.g., System Status, License, even New Search Form) but “Search & Filter” (the top option) continues not to work.

Any help on this would be much appreciated

Hi Eugene. That sounds like something went wrong. What version shows now in the plugins list? Are you able to do a manual update:

Downloading the new version from your account area), then follow these manual installation instructions:

    1) Deactivate S&F in WP Admin Plugins page (do not delete, otherwise you may lose your search forms IF the current version you have is older than 2.3.1 – from that version onward we have fixed this issue with a setting in the main plugin settings page)
    2) Via FTP, delete search-filter-pro folder from the wp-content\plugins folder on your server. If you wish to keep the folder, just in case, do NOT rename it, instead move it UP a folder into the wp-content folder.
    3) Unzip the file that you have downloaded.
    4) Upload the search-filter-pro folder from the archive file you just unzipped to the wp-content\plugins folder on your server.

The version that shows in the plugin list is 2.3.2.

I will try a manual update, I will let you know if that works

I followed all the steps you outlined. After uploading the unzipped folder to plugins I activated the plugin again through WP admin. I still get the error message “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” when clicking search & filter in the WP admin area. Is there anything else we can do to try and resolve this?

And this only happens in that screen?

I see you answered that already.

Can you use a file manager or ftp to look in the root directory of the WordPress installation for a hidden file named .maintenance

If you can see one, delete it.

There is no hidden file called .maintenance, the only hidden file there is .htaccess (in wp-content). In the folder above that there is .htaccess and .user.ini but again no .maintenance file

Just to be clear. The plugin itself is working, and I can see ALL the other sub-menu items. Only the main menu is not showing up
