You had the filter_next_query shortcode in the wrong place, in a text block AFTER the grid. I have deleted that text block and moved the shortcode to inside the code block above the grid.

You would need to ask this question in a Divi forum or user page, as we let the Divi Blog module handle all the content. Does it display any message when no results/posts are found?

Hey Trevor, when I have no posts in a certain category, instead of displaying an error message such as no results found, the plugin simply displays a list of all posts from all categories. Is there a way to fix this?

Also, when clicking through to a post and going back to the category it does display the message correctly. For example:

http://staging.wise-love.flywheelsites.com/browse/?_sft_category=soccer — should have no posts, but displays all posts. Go to any of the posts and then click back and the correct error message appears. This should appear to begin with!

Mainly, it is a better idea to hide any terms with no results from the form, like this:

I think that is the only solution to that at this time.
