Ok
I added a plugin which detects which template is being used to display the current page…
So now on (in the admin bar):
http://www.talan.fr/en/?sfid=4668
You can see it is using the correct template for your results.
The problem is that the results are not being styled correctly or how you want them to – this is likely because of some conditional CSS or something in your theme or the template – I would ask your theme developer how to use this template/layout in other locations in your site and it maintain the two column layout.
Just to be clear – it seems as though S&F is working fine – the problem you are having is getting the results to look how you want – I’ve listed the pros & cons of this here and what options you have available:
http://www.designsandcode.com/wordpress-plugins/search-filter-pro/docs/display-results/
Some themes make this easy and follow WP standards in this regard – so its as simple as putting in the filename and you’re good to go. But some themes like Avada have their own layout builders and internal templating systems – which will need some custom development to get setup.
Modifying your theme and creating a two column layout is out of the realm of support – I cannot offer our users this level of customisation.
I created these two tests to show that S&F is actually working correctly:
http://www.talan.fr/sf-test/
http://www.talan.fr/en/sf-test/There is one issue you mention about the URL updating – it is not updating on the French side – this is a bug I’m looking into but could be a conflict with another plugin – I would advise to disable all other plugins to isolate the issue – in the meantime I will test for this bug once S&F 2.0 is released.
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) June 9, 2015 at 7:07 pm #19186Ross, many thanks for your time and your precise answer. The reason why I can use the shortcode method is because it breaks the content shortcode. As you can see in the result of your test pages, it shows “content name=…” instead of replacing the content shortcode.
Do you think I’ll overcome this problem creating or adapting my own template ?Ross Moderator(Private) June 10, 2015 at 9:42 pm #19308Hey Xavier
I’ve just had someone mention this to me so it may be a bug – I thought it might have been the particular plugin you are using…
I’m just finishing off S&F 2.0, so I will make sure to look in this also before the release – and if its a bug, include the fix in the release.
Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) June 12, 2015 at 11:18 am #19407Hey Xavier
I realised that after talking with another user, if you put the shortcode in “the excerpt” it seems to work ok, can you try?
This is certainly a bug I need to look into.
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) June 12, 2015 at 11:23 am #19408Ross, I have a content replacement shortcode in both, the body and the excerpt.
See here : https://www.dropbox.com/s/o095pmm1wfiq0ay/Capture%20d%27%C3%A9cran%202015-06-12%2012.21.26.png?dl=0Oups, sorry, are you talking about S&F shortcode or the “content shortcode” ?
Ross Moderator(Private) June 12, 2015 at 11:47 am #19413Ah yes like that – try to make the normal “post edit box” empty and only leave the shortcode in the excerpt and see if that works?
Ross Moderator(Private) June 12, 2015 at 12:40 pm #19421Ah ok this is not the same experience as another user – I will need to investigate further – what I’m having difficulty doing is setting up an environment that has this issue in the first place which leads me to believe there is a conflict somewhere with your theme or another plugin…
I will continue to look for answers.
Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) June 16, 2015 at 12:14 pm #19648Hi Xavier
Just to update – there is a bug here – which I will address with the S&F 2.0 update – I am no longer working on the older versions of S&F so will add a fix with this release.
Thanks
