Based on your reply my sense is that the current configuration of SFP+CPTUI+Relevanssi is putting too much demand on filtering WordPress with too many parameters, thus slowing the display of results. Referencing my aforementioned example: am I asking too much of the configuration for my vision?

Performance (as measured by how fast a results page loads after filtering) is a very difficult subject. There is no one answer. The more terms you have, the more fields you have, the more posts you have, the longer it takes, all other things being equal. The single biggest external factor is your server/hosting.
