Ok, so I’ve got a complex filter that I’ve been asked to create:
It needs to filter results based on the following:
- Available Resourcing = High, Medium, Low/None
- Timeframe = Short, Medium, Long
- Stage = Idea/Planning, Setting up, Underway, Complete
- Participants = Participatory, Collaborative, Collective Impact
- Cultural Aspect = Yes, No
- Sector = TBC
- Key Words = TBC
- Audience = Community, Private, Government
- Resource Type = Article/Paper, Book/Booklet, Person/Expert/Coach, Presentation, Software, Training, Video/DVD/Film, Web-based, Website
- Location = Regional
Is this even possible? I’m working with a theme that provides a “portfolio” aka Works and I’m wondering if I use that, or if I just stick to posts and exclude exclude exclude??
At the moment I’ve set it up to do a basic search, choose the type of resource, based on the level of resourcing but because the “portfolio” items don’t allow for the category to be chosen (that’s only for posts), it’s not retrieving the correct results.
I LOVE your plugin btw! I purchased Facet-WP – and uggg it’s horrible, yours is simple and intuitive! Thanks so much!
Ross Moderator(Private) March 16, 2015 at 2:10 pm #13507Hey Nikolasa
Thanks for the kind words – yes I see the problem you have on your site – the problem is you want multiple fields for a single taxonomy (category – a category is basically the same a taxonomy)…
However – 1 field = 1 taxonomy. This is a fairly common issue with a fairly simple fix (depends on how much content you have).
Basically you need to set up a custom taxonomy for each of your filters above – please see this similar post with some recommendations – https://support.searchandfilter.com/forums/topic/and-filtering-not-working/#post-9913 – also note the plugin I recommend doesn’t play so well with WooCommerce -there is another suggestion further down link 🙂
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) March 17, 2015 at 12:25 am #13543All worked perfectly 🙂 – have made some great inroads thanks to your help. A better plugin is the Ultimate CMS plugin (by the same author) it works great, here is the link for future reference > https://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-cms/
Thank you!
