    Hi

I am trying to get the pro plugin working for searching within categories, currently my site is setup with a cat structure of regions, sub region and then countries,

The drop down menu shows for example:
    Africa-East>Africa>Kenya

Africa my have say 1000 posts in it but the individual posts would have been put in the category Kenya,

currently when i run the search at the higher level Africa i am only getting search results for those post with the Africa category chosen rather then all sub categories,

Could you please help with this,

    Many thanks

    Hi Martin

This is a feature request which will be implemented in the next release.

Basically, the default wordpress way of displaying categories is the same as this plugin, which means sub categories are not automatically displayed within parent categories, however after some user feedback and with this being a search plugin I will be making this an option available to users soon.

    Thanks

Hi Could you let me know when this will be implemented? It does not appear to be working with the latest release,

The current issues is say for example i want to search something within the continent of “Africa” it will only search for those posts which have explicitly been added to the category Africa, rather than searching Africa and all sub categories.

When selecting the menu link of Africa WordPress as default displays all posts in Africa and subcategories, so the operation of this plugin appears to differ from the way that WordPress handles categories,

also the when typing in a category in the combo box say mexico, it does not appear to search all available categories,

have a look here for a live example.

Hey Martin sorry you are right – I had to make a quick change to my plans for the plugin because many many users couldn’t get Ajax to work 🙁 Now this is done I will move on to the next update.

Unfortunately updates are not quick and easy to do – and require a lot of testing… so I would estimate this will be a couple of weeks away…

    Thanks
