Search results not working since update

Hi Ross,

Very confused! I had a search set up on this page http://houseplansdirect.co.uk/search-house-designs/, which was working perfectly well before the update.

When I updated, I rebuilt the cache and updated the search form as you suggested, but for some reason now the search always results in a 404 error.

Everything should be as it was before as far as I’m aware, so not really sure what’s causing this. Your help would be appreciated!

I’m guessing you might have made a copy and paste error somewhere

Anyway, when you submit the search form you will see:

http://houseplansdirect.co.uk/search-house-designs/%20%E2%80%8E?_sft_category=bungalow-designs&_sfm_Area%20m2=0+450

Notice the random %20%E2%80%8E in the URL- this is causing your error.

If you go in to your search form, I think you might be able to see some whitespace at the end of the Results URL, or some other odd characters – try removing if they exist, or do a clean copy and paste of your results URL and let me know if that works?

Also just to note, I see another potential issue I thought I would flag.

The meta key for “Area m2” has a space in it – this is not allowed in URLs and plenty of other places – when its in the URL it changes to Area%20m2 which causes all sorts of problems – you will need to update this to Area_m2 or something similar as I think it will likely cause you problems.

Hi Ross, thanks for your prompt reply.

There was some whitespace at the end of the results URL which I have removed, and this has cured the 404 error – but for some reason now I am getting ‘No results to show’ if I try to use any of the check box filters. The slider for ‘Area m2’ seems to work fine though 🙂
