Hi there,
We regularly use S&F Pro to do all kinds of weird and wonderful things and consider ourselves pretty savvy with how the plugin works… but seem to have hit a wall with this one!
The situation: We have a website with a post type called ‘listings’ and a taxonomy called ‘listing categories.’ Listing categories are hierarchical – e.g. accommodation > caravan parks and have their own archive pages. The search results live on the top level archive page – we have separate search forms for each of these customised to the terms likely to be required (e.g. accommodation form has parameters like whether or not they have a pool). Here’s where it gets weird.
If I place the search form on a PAGE – and then use the search – it works perfectly. Redirects to the archive page with the template that displays the S&F results.
However, if I place the search form on one of the child archive pages – e.g. /accommodation/caravan-parks – it doesn’t work. It won’t redirect to the S&F results page. At first I thought this might be because I had the results displaying on an archive page, but I’ve tried switching to display them on a regular page and it still doesn’t work.
This may be confusing to follow so if you let me know who to send it to I can send a preview link (site is currently in staging)
