I’m trying to have a simple search form on one page (with a search field and submit button). When the user enters a keyword and hits submit it will go to a results page that will display results with the ability filter. Essentially like entering in a product on Amazon and then being taken to a results page with filters down the right hand side. Is that possible?

Yes it is. On the page with the simple form, place Form #1.

In the setup, on the Display Results tab, set this to ‘Custom’ and enter the full URL of the results page (including http:// or https:// and the final /), and switch Ajax OFF.

Then, on the results page, Form #2 (try not to have Form #1 on this page, even if you have to hide it with CSS).

The form must have a search field also, plus any other fields you need, and be setup as you need.

Thanks! For Form #2, do I use shortcodes? So the way it works is a user can enter keywords on form one and the results will be shown on the results page, where the user can then use the filters to continue to sort, correct?

For form #2, you can use whichever method you want, and whichever suits your theme and if you have a page builder plugin you have. So, what theme and/or page builder do you have?

If you think you have nothing suitable, you might consider what I detailed here:

Thanks I’ll give that a try! I’m using Elementor Page builder.

Ah, if you have Elementor Pro, then you could use our extension for Elementor Pro, which can be installed after clicking the big blue button (you need to be logged in to see it) at the top of the guide page (to download the installation file):

    https://searchandfilter.com/documentation/3rd-party/elementor/

If you do not have Elementor Pro, then that solution I proposed (no need for the above mentioned extension for Pro) is a good.

Do let me know how you get on.

I made this change for you:

It should work better now. I really would use the Elementor Pro extension though.

ok i’ll give the extension a shot because the results aren’t changing when I select anything from the dropdown. it just stays the same. maybe the extension will help?

You have removed the Submit button. All you need do is enable Auto Submit on the General settings tab.
