After updating “Search in the following post types:” and choosing a post type other than Posts and Pages, the page loads with Posts and Pages still checked and no change is made. This is causing results to not show on the front end.

    Hey there

Are there any other issues with saving/updating settings, or is it only when you try to change the post types?

    Thanks

Yes, Nothing is saving. I tried changing the results per page and it reverts to 8.

    Thanks!

I did also move my site from one server to another recently, but it was working and then stopped…

    Hello,

Any suggestions? Is there a way to get direct support on this issue? Our events page has been down since last Friday. I need to resolve this.

    Thanks.

    Hey again

    Apologies for the delay.

The issue here is to do with the way the site was moved from servers. It has come up a few times and I’m looking into it but can’t pinpoint the error.

The only way to resolve for now is to delete the search form and create it again.

    Thanks

I tried recreating the form, but I get this error:

Error: The custom template file search.php cannot be found – go to Display Results tab to fix.

The original form is not giving me this error.

    Hi there

Lets assume the original search form is broken – so the fact there is no error message in this case I don’t think has any significance.

Lets take a look at your new search form, which you can edit and update etc.

So the issue is that this template cannot be found.

Does this files search.php exist in your theme folder?

    Thanks

No, That file does not exist. I didn’t build this site. Thats the main problem. The person who built it is no longer with our company.

Is there a default file I should be looking for?

Ok… makes it a bit tricky.

Well basically, setting up the results all stems around your display method setting (under the display results tab)

If you are using archive method (check the old search form to ensure) then you probably should familiarise yourself with this:

    https://www.designsandcode.com/documentation/search-filter-pro/search-results/as-an-archive/

Basically, it looks for search.php as the template for displaying your results – if this does not exist, then you must have had this setup in a different way previously.

By any chance do you have a link to the site?

    Thanks
