Hi Serena
Can you disable ajax and see if we can get it working that way first?
You can find the setting in the
display results
tab of your search form.Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) March 23, 2020 at 11:01 am #237516Hi Serena
To setup Elementor you will need to follow the steps here:
https://searchandfilter.com/documentation/3rd-party/elementor/However I see you are using Anywhere Elementor – while we don’t officially support it, it should work.
Try changing the
Ajax Container
setting (in thedisplay results
tab of your search form) to:.ae-post-layout-list
Let me know how you get on.
Thakns
Anonymous(Private) March 23, 2020 at 11:12 am #237518Thanks, changing it to .ae-post-layout-list corrected the Ajax. I was using .ae-post-layout-grid which is in your site tutorial.
I noticed another bug however – the filter works on the first page of results but if there are multiple pages and you click on the pagination, all of the posts show again. How can I fix that?
Ross Moderator(Private) March 23, 2020 at 12:24 pm #237532Hi Serena
You are correct, I see some unusual things happening with the pagination.
2 things I think we should try:
1) Use an Elementor posts module (for testing only) to see if the pagination comes out ok
2) Check (and enable if disabled) the settings (in the “display results” tab) ->
Make searches bookmarkable
andOnly use Ajax on the results page
and thatajax pagination
->pagination type
is set tonormal
.Let me know once you’ve done those and the results of that, then we should have a better idea of the problem going forwards.
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) March 23, 2020 at 8:49 pm #237633I believe I figured out the conflict – on the AE Post Block pagination option, Ajax had to be disabled. Now it seems to work correctly.
One last question – is there any way to create a search form to filter the search results page for the whole site? I don’t believe Elementor has a search.php, instead I have a template created to display the search results and I don’t know how to target that url as required in the “Custom” Display results method.
Ross Moderator(Private) March 24, 2020 at 5:07 pm #237729Hi Serena
That’s great – I’ll make a note of that so I can look into further.
In regards to your last question, I’m not sure I follow exactly.
Can you explain with links etc? I’m also a little confused to which page you are referring when you say – “the search results page for the whole site”
All WP sites (when permalinks are enabled) have a default search listing at the URL)
yoursite.com/search/
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) March 25, 2020 at 3:02 am #237744Thanks for all your help so far!
Let me try to clarify – if you type in a search on any page (by clicking the search icon in the navigation bar) it takes you to a search results page https://www.ridniker.com/?s. For example, type in “pesach” and it takes you to this url https://www.ridniker.com/?s=pesach. The page with search results is using an Elementor template that applies to all archive and search pages. You can see that I inserted a search form in the sidebar but if you try to filter the results of your search, it will just reset to filter the whole site. I’m not sure what the correct settings would for that S&F form to function correctly.
It’s possible that it doesn’t work because S&F isn’t linked to the search icon located in the page header. Is that an issue?
