Hello Awesome Search & Filter devs!
Another issue here. I first posted on the Relevanssi support for help but looks like that isnt the issue.
Here’s my post on their forum:

Subject: ACF repeater field not being searched and turning up search resultsWP: 4.9.8
Relevanssi: premium 2.1.7Message Body:
https://hilt.wpengine.com/searching for AnnotationsX should bring up this page https://hilt.wpengine.com/ideas-and-tools/tools/
This is set up as a repeater field.
I have selected ‘visible’ custom fields and rebuild the search index. My search forms are built with Search and Filter which is hooked up to your plugin.
My search.php template page https://gist.github.com/nikibrown/4a063b421e614bbe905e45448df10e46
Not sure what else I’m missing here.

Hi,
Custom fields definitely work in the free version; the only custom-field related Premium feature is the support for ACF repeater field format so you can index fields using the “field_%_subfield” notation. You can index and search all custom fields, including repeater fields, with the free version, it’s a core feature in Relevanssi, both free and Premium.
I bypassed Search & Filter, and the post can be found: https://hilt.wpengine.com/?s=annotationsx
So I’d look into what Search & Filter is doing to block the post from appearing in the results.

The custom fields do show up in regular search.

Anything obvious I’m missing here?
Thanks!

Trevor(Private) September 5, 2018 at 3:30 pm #187375I am not sure if this is why, but, at this time, we do not support the more complex relationship fields in ACF, like the repeater fields. That particular field is unlikely to be supported for searching, as it can, in theory, support an infinite nested sub levels of fields.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will just change this to be a custom post type and solve the problem.
FWIW this repeater field is very often used (at least by me) as an easy way to make repeatable sections on a page: http://nikib.ro/wn/screenshots/Tools__Harvard_Initiative_for_Learning_and_Teaching_HILT_2018-09-05_10-32-55.jpg
In this case its just 4 subfields of an image, title, link and paragraph text. Not a super complex implementation. Relevanssi currently supports repeater fields.
