Saving search parameters after viewing something?

Is this a built in feature that I can’t locate or does this not exist? Basically, if you are searching for something, narrowing down your search and then you click on a result. Yes, the user can go back (via back browser button), but is there anyway I can link back to the search results page via a button/link and not have all my search results/parameters/page I was on be reset?

Seems it might be doable with a query string or server side session but I didn’t want to custom code anything if this is built in.
