My client is using the search plugin for chemical products, the results are not accurate, as an example searching for N-(4′-Chlorobiphenyl-2-yl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carboxamide returns 285 results, it seems the search engine is only matching the word hydro.
That string of text is not at the top of the search results.
It will only come to the top and return as one results if searching for the word Chlorobipheny
Are there settings I am missing? Is it perhaps the use of hyphens and no white spaces that are causing this?
Trevor(Private) January 27, 2017 at 10:33 am #86004I think this may be the way that WordPress treats symbols and thus it may be breaking the terms down into smaller words.
The only alternative is to try installing relevanssi and seeing if enabling that (in the S&F Form Advanced settings) makes a difference (in some installations, it is also necessary to tell relevanssi to index and search in excerpts).
Are these chemicals also tags, as you can ask Relevanssi to search categories, tags etc.
Anonymous(Private) January 27, 2017 at 10:58 am #86016Hi Trevor
I have relevanssi installed and have been using it. It does not seem to make a difference, it is set to search in excerpts.Searching for the title does not seems to work.
As another example searching for p-Methoxycarbonylaminobenzenesulfonamide
does not find that result, searching for Methoxycarbonylaminobenzenesulfonamide returns no results
this is the actual page http://www.eppltd.com/products/p-methoxycarbonylaminobenzenesulfonamide
Anonymous(Private) January 27, 2017 at 11:21 am #86032the reindexing for relevanssi wasn’t working properly but has since saved, it’s a lot better now, searching for N-(4′-Chlorobiphenyl-2-yl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carboxamide does return in the results, just that it’s 4th in the list when the expectation would be that it’s returned first?
