The wp_relevanssi table has “santa” and several of the post IDs matching the results that it is pulling back correctly. The wp_search_filter_term_results and wp_search_filter_cache also looks to have the correct post IDs. I’m not sure what else to look at in the database. The search results are coming back correctly on the page as expected it’s just not populating the search form drop-menus correctly. Would that point to some other conflict like something with Javascript or something else in the theme?

I was able to get it to work in the TwentyFifteen theme. I don’t see any feasible way for me to switch away from their current theme which is Salient as it’s a pretty big site loaded with content. I’ve updated all plugins and themes. The Salient authors do recommend using Relevansi in a comment that I found. Without Relevansi the S&F results works but not with the best results. All that I did in Relevansi to improve my results was add in search of two custom meta fields “wpsl_city” and “wpsl_zip” which allows the results to come back via city or zipcode.

I tinkered with trying to disable functionality in the Salient theme. I don’t know enough about the S&F plugin to know what to try and play with there. Whenever Relevansi is enabled all the results are spot on but the drop-menu filters for S&F are not working. My next thought was to try and just code in my own addition of the values of the meta fields via the functions.php and leave Relevansi disabled.

So, you are pretty sure it isn’t any of the plugins? Just the combination of Salient, Search and Filter Pro and Relevanssi?

Does the functionality of the site come from Salient or the plugins? If it comes from the plugins, what USP is Salient bringing to the mix?

I tested Relevanssi & Salient and it works fine together. The WP Query results that are coming back from S&F + Relevanssi are accurate it’s just the drop menus that aren’t functioning correctly. With Relevanssi disabled Salient + S&F work perfectly fine.

This leads me to believe that it’s something to do with JS. I can start going through and commenting out JS from Salient that isn’t being utilized. Is there anything I should look at in S&F such as loading a different version of Jquery? Salient used to utilize chosen.jquery but it switched to something else recently. That may be the conflict or both Salient + S&F both use select2.js. I was going to dig into those differences but if you had other ideas that I should look at please let me know. I realize you can’t support the theme since that’s clearly causing the problem.

    Thanks!

At this stage, I cannot think what it might be.
