    In advanced settings there are 2 options:

    Force is_search to always be true?
    Force is_archive to always be true?

    Can someone explain what these options mean?

    Generally you should only use these if we advise you to, and you should otherwise leave them unchecked. When using the ‘As an Archive’ display results method, and sometimes the ‘Post Type Archives’ method, some (very few) themes, and sometimes SEO plugins, need one of these to be checked for them to recognise a search is being made, and handle the page (the page meta and template) accordingly.
