Hi Stelios
You shouldn’t find high usage unless you are doing a lot with post meta/custom fields.
What fields are you using, and roughly how large is your database? Taxonomies should be pretty fast (can you screenshot your search form for me?)
I’ve actually implemented a caching system in S&F 2.0 which is out in testing at the moment, which should allow sites with all kinds of configurations to run smoothly – searching roughly 2000 posts with 40 filter options has tested to be working well and quickly with the next version.
Let me know you thoughts, it might be worth setting you up the next version right away – if you are not using many meta fields, then there might be another problem completely – a link or some idea of your exact configuration would be useful.
Thanks
