Hi,
I purchased the Search & Filter plugin but it is not working. My website is http://www.acodemics.com where I list online courses on computer science and web development.
In order to be able to filter the results, I included taxonomies in my posts (e.g. idiom, technical skill required, institution, subject, etc.). This works fine for me when I use the free version of the plugin (and I’m still using the free version as the paid version is not working).
However, I decided to purchase S&F Pro for 3 main reasons:
– I wanted to filter the results by custom fields as I use Advanced Custom Fields in each post in order to display the courses info. (Currently, I have to fill out the same information via custom fields and taxonomies because I had to maintain the free version that uses taxonomies)
– I wanted to use AJAX so that the user experience would be improved when filtering the results
– I wanted to give my users an overall better experience by offering an improved search formUnfortunately, I wasn’t able to take advantage of the Pro version yet because it simply doesn’t work. Could you please help me?
Regards,

Sorry to hear that. Can you be a bit more clear on what is happening, and what you have tried?
The pro version works very differently to the free (and the free version will be updated to work the same way as the pro, in time, albeit with less features)..
What I would recommend to do to test if everything is working is:
1) Create a new S&F form.
2) Make sure this form has “use ajax” ticked, and “use shortcode” ticked.
3) Then create a new page, and paste the two shortcodes for this S&F form in to the page (you can find the shortcodes by viewing all your S&F forms (just clickSearch & Filter
in the nav of the of WP), the shortcodes should look something like:[searchandfilter id="824"] [searchandfilter id="824" show="results"]
However your IDs will be different.
Then visit this page, and see how the form is working.
Let me know 🙂
Ross Moderator(Private) October 21, 2014 at 3:56 pm #6239PS many users forget to disable S&F free before enabling S&F pro – the two plugins cannot work together.
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) October 27, 2014 at 5:40 pm #6541Hi Ross,
Thanks for your prompt response and sorry for my late reply.
I have done some testings and the plugin is actually working but it is not performing the way I want. If you visit the page now at http://www.acodemics.com you will understand what I mean.
First, I’m not being able to exclude all those fixed and featured posts that appears before the actual result. I tried to use the exclude options with comma separated IDs (as the courses have their own post categories) but it doesn’t work. I suppose that is because the posts are marked as fixed. When I used the free version I was redirected to the archive template when performing the search. However, as now the results are loaded via AJAX, it seems that it cannot jump to the archives page right away. Even if I define a template page it will appear only after all those featured posts on the top.
What do you suggest that I do?Second, I would like to be able to increment on previous selections as in the free version. For example, if on the top left corner I select “Programação & Desenvolvimento Web > Javascript” (http://acodemics.com/?tema=javascript-programacao-desenvolvimento-web), I want to be able to filter the results further more by specifying additional criteria in the search form. How can I do this?
I think that a good alternative could be to create a new template page for the search form. What do you think? I tried to do this but I couldn’t add a widget area (sidebar) that would belong only to that page. How do I do this? I’m sorry for all these questions but I’m still a novice in web development and WordPress (actually, my blog is all about that.. tips and courses for web development learners like me).. =]
