Hi again
Sorry for the delays – I think I see the issue.
So essentially because you choose archive display method, when you request the URL:
/references-en
S&F will take over that page (because its set as a slug in S&F), and that URL will no longer be a regular page – which means PolyLang doesn’t recognise it as a page, and is therefor not able to offer the translated links to the same page – in fact, it doesn’t recognise it as anything so the lang switcher I don’t think will work properly.
There is one option you could do, which is where S&F sits within regular WP pages – which would allow you to do what you want – which is change the display method to
shortcode
and setup that way – you would probably need to do a fair bit of editing of tempaltes though to get that setup right. What I’m actually looking to do in a future update is the same as WooCommerce – where it creates a “shop” page, but then displays the results on – this would allow the language switcher to work – its on the roadmap but can’t say when.
Failing that, you best bet would be to recreate teh language switcher manually (copying html / css etc etc and add the links in your self) but this does sound a bit hacky.
Best
