    Recorrect (grrr), it is ACF (strange translation of that plugin name in German, sorry for the mess, but I cannot edit my replies here)

    I created a new s&F form, which worked from scratch.

    Then I compared the various settings tabs of the two forms, and found some additional entry under “Post meta” in the non-working form (but nobody here entered this condition manually). I removed it, enabled “Relevanssi” (as it was enabled in the second, working form), and now also the first s&f form works again.
