Can’t get form to work/display any results. http://c84.e06.myftpupload.com/cars-and-trucks/
Posts that I’m search for all have tags which I’m using with the search form for the search.
thanks,
RobAnonymous(Private) July 22, 2016 at 11:06 pm #51958I see that http://c84.e06.myftpupload.com/cars-and-trucks/?_sf_s=ford works but http://c84.e06.myftpupload.com/cars-and-trucks/?_sft_post_tag=ford does not which is the issue I believe.
Trevor(Private) July 23, 2016 at 9:14 am #51966Ah, I am looking at form id #28802 and I see tags used twice. This you cannot do.
If you have taxonomy terms in the core category/tags taxonomy that requires two form fields to filter as you want, then your site data is not structured correctly. You need to add one or more custom taxonomies, and/or use custom posts, and/or use custom fields (meta data). Using the free plugins CPT UI (Custom Post Type UI) and ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) you can add this structure. Then you can add unique form fields to filter the data.
Should you use Taxonomies or Fields? You should use Taxonomies only when you want to make use of that in URL structures. Think carefully how it would look to Google bots (and users). Otherwise, custom meta fields are the better choice.
Anonymous(Private) July 23, 2016 at 11:41 pm #51997Thank you for the quick reply and info Trevor! Understand what you’re saying but if you could help me get one filter form field to work for the tags that would be great. I removed one and only have the one tag selector now and they are still empty and result in no results found…rebuilt cache as well.
thanks
