Trevor , The reason i used html is so i could change the settings – from what i understand the form on the actual taxonomy page uses ajax and displays results on same page and simply refreshes or reloads results inside the main content area…

It was also my understanding i can not have two forms for same search – say two different forms for searching a custom post type or taxonomy – i was under the impression i had to only create 1 form and so the settings with ajax on actual archive page are great and works perfect but i can not place that same form on the home page and it work as i intend..

I want the home page to not have ajax and to hide certain fileds -and so i pasted html – the form works perfect on home page but the only thing i need is a way for the form to pull the taxonomy selected in form when submit is entered and new page loads…

If I place widget inside page then it will try and load ajax ( i recall a setting only use ajax on results page – that might help ) but i digress – i will try…

Ok – so i got what i expected – the form uses ajax on home with auto submit – tried to click only use ajax on archive but that didn’t work and then I tried short code with some settings – hoping it might listen to it..

    [searchandfilter id=”331″ data-auto-update=”0″ data-ajax=”0″ ]

So this is why i resorted to copying and pasting html – seems it would be nice to be able to set settings in shortcode or widget UI – but i can’t get it to work any other way…

Ok. I understand. Only one form (designed) allowed per Post Type.

The form on the home page should not have Ajax and go to where to show results?

You could duplicate the original form, delete the fields you would hide, change it to ‘Custom’ display results method, enter the URL of the Post Type Archive as the results page, and switch Ajax off.
