This is my first time using Search & Filter Pro and I am having trouble trying to get it to work properly for my website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel super dumb right now because I can’t get the plugin to work to the capabilities that I know it can.

So lets start from the beginning, what have you done, and what are you having problems doing?
As a recommendation always setup search and filter to work properly first with Ajax disabled, then once everything is working great we can enable it and set this up properly.
Thanks

A few things are wrong with your setup so lets get those sorted first:
1) You are using the field type “Category” for all your fields and just changing the title “Search All Breweries” for example. However, you can only use the category field once, not multiple times to search within child categories. You need to split you categories into custom taxonomies, so you have a taxonomy for Breweries, a taxonomy for state, a taxonomy for Style.
If you think about it, a “state” is not really the same type of data as “style” – this is the way the plugin works and semantically this is also a better approach – then you can use many “taxonomy” fields instead of category to achieve what you want.
I recommend to use Ultimate Taxonomy Manager for creating your new taxonomies and attaching them to your posts…
2) Once this is setup we need to begin debugging a little, some recommendations:
When configuring the plugin set it up without Ajax first, this way you can see any errors and fix them. Also, be sure to use a “custom template” because otherwise you will not be able to control your search results :/
Let me know when this is done.
Thanks
Ross Moderator(Private) July 8, 2014 at 1:48 pm #2262Hey Joshua, what happens when you disable Search & Filter? Its possible that it could break something (anything can) but I really can’t see where – it does not interfere too much with WP and tries to keep itself self contained…
I’ll try to login tonight and have a look too, but you should def try disabling S&F to see if it is actually S&F that is causing your problems.
Thanks
