Hi there
I’ve got a single site licence and had previously installed S&F on a dev site.
I’ve:
– deactivated the licence on the dev site
– removed the dev site from Your account > View Licences > Manage sites
– added the new live site to Your account > View Licences > Manage sites
– tried to activate the licence key from the settings page of the live WordPress site.Unlike with the dev site, I get no confirmation message that the licence has been activated. Am I doing something wrong/can you help?
(nb on the ‘Your account’ page, ‘Activations’ is showing as 1/1 active, so maybe this is not an issue and for some reason I’m just not seeing the confirmation screen on WordPress?)
Hopefully a quick one for you to help resolve.
Thanks in advance,
Howard.
Anonymous(Private) November 19, 2016 at 5:21 pm #71194Hi Trevor
Thanks for getting back. In my WP settings page (S&F > Licence) the Licence Key box is not blank – it has my key pasted in it – but the ‘Activate licence’ button is still there.
On my dev site, I seem to recall that the button was ‘Deactivate license’, suggesting that the licence was active.
Cheers,
Howard.
Ross Moderator(Private) December 3, 2016 at 1:48 pm #73824Hey Howard
Its a bit of a hard to debug issue… I would recommend de-registering first from your install (if its an option), then de-register everything via your account.
Then, try to activate on your site, it will say “active” and you will get the option to de-register via wp-admin as you mentioned (so you know its worked).
If this still doesn’t work I will have to investigate further, let me know.
Thanks
Anonymous(Private) December 28, 2016 at 8:51 pm #79027Hi Ross
Apologies for taking a while to get back to you. Alas, I have no option to de-register on:
/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=search-filter-widget&page=search-filter-licence-settings
There is just the ‘Licence Key’ field and the ‘Activate licence’ button. When I paste in my key and hit ‘Activate licence’, the page submits the info, I see a brief flash of ‘settings-updated=true’ appended to the url in the address bar, but then nothing changes in the page (my key is still showing in the field with the activate licence button underneath).
I have de-registered the site from my account, and then re-registered it, but to no avail. I have also tried registering two different versions of the domain – the visible one and the full server pth.
I guess I could try uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin but am loathe to do that as I assume I’ll need to configure everything again.
Grateful for your advice.
Thanks in advance,
Howard.
Anonymous(Private) January 20, 2017 at 1:48 pm #84073Hi Trevor
I just tried this again, and this time it worked! The status on my licence page shows ‘active’ in green. Hurrah!
However, I’ve just tried to update the plug-in from 2.2.0 to 2.3.0 on the /wp-admin/plugins.php page and I get a failed message with ‘too many redirects’.
Can I manually update the plugin without wiping all my settings?
Many thanks,
Howard.
Trevor(Private) January 20, 2017 at 1:58 pm #84083Yes, the manual process is fine, but you might want to hang fire until we release another version (I think 2.3.1). Use ftp to to the update, not wp-admin.
1) Deactivate S&F in WP Admin Plugins page (do not delete, otherwise you will lose your search form)
2) Via FTP, delete search-filter-pro folder from the wp-content\plugins folder on your server. If you wish to keep the folder, just in case, do NOT rename it, instead move it UP a folder into the wp-content folder.
3) Unzip the file that you have downloaded.
4) Upload the search-filter-pro folder to the wp-content\plugins folder on your server. -
