Issue with two Searchforms

I have on one page 2 forms, a sorting form and a category form.
and if I filter the items first by category and then sort by, the categories are not filtered, but the other way around it works.

The way you describe the two forms I think they will not work on the same page, you must have one form with both controls in it. V3 is coming which will allow you to have one form where the controls are in different places in the page, but not yet.
