Ah, that makes sense. Yes, you should do the download and install that.It is how most paid plugins work, as the standard WordPress plugin search/install only works for free plugins, and never paid ones. The same with themes. WordPress will not host and plugin or theme that is paid for.
You need the licence activate as such to receive automatic updates from within the WordPress plugins page (again, this is the same for all paid plugins and themes). If you do not activate the site, you will not be able to update (even though you can see an update is needed) automatically. However, you can still manually update by downloading the file for the new version, but, you have to remove the old version first. Also, when your licence expires, you will find you can no longer download update files either.
You will NOT need the free version, so it would be best to deactivate that and delete it.
